BEGINNING :
Painter, Sculptor, Muralist, Architect & Writer,Satish Gujral is described as a living legend; one of the few who haveconsistently dominated the art scene in India for entirepost-independent era. Seven books of his work have been publishedincluding an autobiography "A Brush With Life". In February 2006 inrecognition of Gujrals contribution to Indian art The National Galleryof Modern Art, New Delhi organized a Retrospective Exhibition ofGujrals paintings, sculptures drawings and architecture and alsolaunched a book "An Artography" including Gujrals work spanning from1948 to 2006. Dozens of documentaries have been made recording hiswork. A full feature film on his life is in the making.

EXHIBITIONS :
From1952 to 1974, Satish Gujral had scores of solo shows of his sculptures,paintings and graphics in Mexico City, New York, New Delhi, Bombay,Calcutta, Montreal, Rome, Berlin, Tokyo, Buenos Aires and Stockholm.Since the late 80s up to the recent years, Satish Gujrals paintings andsculptures further diversified both in terms of materials and content.Satish Gujrals sculptures in burnt wood have come with a kind ofvisceral exposure of forms, human and otherwise.
